Psalm 78:5-8
For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded the fathers, that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments; And may not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set it's heart aright, and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

Project Status

In my post, Projects, Projects, Projects, I shared the top 4 projects of the moment. We’ve made a tad bit of progress since that post that I’ll share here.

Project #1 – Getting the Utility Shed enclosed to waterproof it.

We’ve now put about 1/2 of the OSB exterior walls up. We also got the floor under the freezers sealed and the two freezers moved into the Utility Shed. That spurred…..

Project #1A – Cleaning under the old freezer location, cleaning the tent behind said freezer location, rearranging that end of the tent.

This was accomplished on Saturday and finished Monday morning. Callan spent most of Saturday afternoon rearranging the “clothes closet” corner of the tent. It was our only “room” in the tent enclosed by bookcases and gorilla rack clothing shelves. This tended to be the dumping grounds for wayward children who “shoved” things instead of putting them away. We’ve reduced the room for this by making this “room” a hallway closet of sorts. Callan moved the gorilla rack clothing shelves to about 4′ from the tent wall. She lined our grain buckets up against the tent wall which is a good insulating factor, and left enough room for children to walk down the “hallway” to get their clothing. Their clothing is stored in black display boxes I picked up free from Costco on the gorilla rack shelves.

This rearranging gave us much more living area which was a welcome improvement. We even had room to put Skylar’s bed, the trailer couch-bed, where the freezers were giving us a couch in our tent! Yippee! I’ve missed having a comfy place to sit down with little ones beside me to read. All reading/sitting in the tent has been done in hard dining room oak chairs. Callan placed the three bookshelves back to back with the clothing shelves so now our books are more readily accessible to the table/school area. I worked some today on reorganizing the books so we can make better use of them.

Project 2 – R&Ring the RV kitchen.

This project is in a holding pattern until others higher on the priority list are done and until we have the finances to purchase new cabinets, faucets and counter tops.

Project 3 – RV pop-out floor and wall damage. Most of Saturday was devoted to this project. It took awhile to get into this project as he had to carefully examine how it was all put together so he could reconstruct it as it was originally done. He said it looked like it was leaking through the exterior-to-interior port door that originally lead to an exterior cabinet located under the couch/bed. When we first renovated the trailer, we removed that cabinet so we could use that area for indoor storage instead of exterior storage. After taking it apart, Rick realized that it was only sealed with foam and not a waterproof seal. Cheapness on the manufacturer’s part has caused us quite a bit of work.

Rick removed a large chunk of floor, some insulation and some wall board. This left a huge hole in the pop-out floor which had to be covered up or chickens would be figuring out their way in – or something worse. So, we scavenged a couple of pieces of OSB from the Utility Shed enclosement project and cut them to fit to cover up that hole. This project is far from done, as we have to research how to seal the new bottom of the pop-out and where to get that material. For now though, the hole is closed up.

Project #4 – THE Truck hiccuping and stalling issues.

I took THE Truck to the Hondo Ford Dealer on Saturday and they replaced the CPS, which was indeed under recall. It took all of 20 minutes, no expense except for the diesel to drive the 35 mile round trip, and it was done! No more hiccuping and stalling. Thank you, Lord, that this one didn’t cost us any money and that we can cross this one off our project list!

While in Hondo, I was astonished to see their lowest gas price at $3.02 at the WalMart. I haven’t seen gasoline this “low” in ages! Diesel was $3.48, which is about $.50 lower than anywhere else I’d seen. I wasn’t out of gas but was under a half tank, so I decided it was time to fill ‘er up.

Crossing 1 out of 4 projects off our list and getting a subproject started and finished is a start. It feels like we’re making some headway but there’s still so much more to do.

As far as work goes, we had one day of work last week. We have none scheduled for this week as of yet. We’re praying that God will cause the phone to ring and work will come in soon.
